Sautéed Cabbage and Ground Beef
Ingredients:
500 g ground beef
1 small green (or white) cabbage, finely shredded
1 onion, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons olive or sunflower oil
1 tablespoon tomato paste (optional)
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon cumin (optional)
Salt and pepper
Fresh chopped parsley for serving (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the vegetables:
Cut the cabbage into thin strips. Thinly slice the onion and mince the garlic.
Cook the meat:
In a large pan or Dutch oven, heat the oil. Add the onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
Add the garlic, then the ground beef. Cook until well browned.
Add the spices and cabbage:
Stir in the paprika, cumin (if using), salt, and pepper.
Then add the shredded cabbage and the tomato paste if desired. Mix well.
Final cooking:
Cover and simmer over medium-low heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender. If the mixture becomes too dry, add a small amount of water.
Finishing touches:
Adjust the seasoning. Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley before serving.
Serving suggestions:
Rice, couscous, or steamed potatoes
A touch of chili for a spicier version
A squeeze of lemon juice for a touch of freshness
