Puff Pastry Twists with Bacon and Dijon Mustard
Ingredients:
1 rectangular sheet of puff pastry
2 to 3 tablespoons of Dijon mustard
100g of bacon (thin slices or matchsticks)
50g of grated cheese (Emmental, Comté, or Cheddar, optional)
1 egg yolk for glazing
Black pepper
Poppy or sesame seeds (optional)
Preparation:
Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) (fan-assisted).
Unroll the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
Spread the Dijon mustard evenly over the pastry.
Arrange the bacon slices or matchsticks evenly over the pastry.
You can add a little grated cheese on top if you want a richer touch.
Fold the pastry in half lengthwise (like a wallet).
Press lightly with a rolling pin to seal.
Cut into strips 1.5 to 2 cm wide, then twist them gently.
Arrange the twists on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Brush with egg yolk, season lightly with pepper, and sprinkle with seeds if desired.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until the twists are golden brown and crispy.
Tips:
You can substitute smoked bacon lardons that have been browned in a pan for the bacon.
Serve warm or at room temperature with a yogurt-mustard sauce or a cream cheese dip.
