Steak and Melted Cheese Wraps
Ingredients (for 2 generous wraps)
2 large tortillas (wheat or corn)
300 g steak (sirloin, flank, or ribeye)
100 g grated or sliced cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, Emmental, provolone, etc.)
1 onion (red or white), thinly sliced
1 bell pepper, sliced (optional)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
Salt, pepper
Sauce of your choice: mayonnaise, mustard, barbecue sauce, yogurt sauce, or guacamole
Preparation
1. Cook the steak
Season the steak with salt, pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil (and a little Worcestershire sauce if using).
Heat a pan over high heat and sear the meat for 2-3 minutes on each side, depending on the thickness and desired doneness.
Let it rest for 5 minutes, then cut into thin slices.
2. Sauté the onions and peppers
In the same pan, sauté the onions (and peppers if using) with a drizzle of oil until tender and slightly caramelized.
3. Assemble the wraps
Lightly warm the tortillas (in a pan or for 10 seconds in the microwave).
Spread a sauce of your choice.
Arrange the sautéed onions and peppers, the steak slices, and then the cheese.
Roll the wraps tightly.
4. Grill (optional but recommended)
Return the wraps to the pan (or a panini press) and grill for 2-3 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the outside is crispy.
Serving suggestions
Serve with fries, coleslaw, or tortilla chips and guacamole.
