Country Bread Toasts with Avocado, Shrimp, and Chili

Ingredients (for 4 toasts):

4 large slices of country bread

1 ripe avocado

1 teaspoon lime juice

A pinch of salt and black pepper

150 g cooked, peeled shrimp

1 small fresh red chili pepper, finely chopped (or a pinch of chili flakes)

1 teaspoon olive oil

A few sprigs of cilantro or flat-leaf parsley (optional)

1 clove of garlic (for rubbing the bread)

Optional: a few drops of sriracha hot sauce

Instructions

Toast the bread:

Toast the slices of country bread until golden brown and crispy.

Rub them with a halved clove of garlic while they are still warm.

Prepare the avocado base:

Mash the avocado in a bowl with the lime juice, salt, and pepper.

Spread this mixture generously on the toasted bread slices.

Prepare the shrimp:

In a small pan, heat the olive oil.

Add the shrimp and chopped chili pepper, and sauté for 2-3 minutes until heated through and lightly browned.

Assemble:

Arrange the sautéed shrimp on top of the avocado spread.

Garnish with a little fresh cilantro or parsley, and if desired, a few drops of hot sauce to enhance the flavor.

Tip:

You can replace the shrimp with crab or smoked salmon for variety, and add a few slices of radish or cucumber for a crunchy texture!
